Frequently asked questions

What is the NUMS merit formula?

The NUMS centralized admissions advertisement for MBBS/BDS 2025-26 gives: entrance test (NUMS MDCAT 2025, or a valid MCAT or UCAT where applicable) 50%, HSSC/FSc (Pre-Medical) or equivalent 40%, and SSC/Matric or equivalent 10%.

For 2025-26 the advertisement sets the NUMS MDCAT pass percentage at 55% for MBBS and 50% for BDS. Candidates also need at least 60% aggregate marks in FSc (Pre-Medical) or equivalent.

Which colleges does NUMS admit to?

NUMS constituent and affiliated colleges (for example CMH and HITEC institutes) and the Armed Forces administered colleges listed in its advertisement, such as Bahria, Fazaia and Foundation University colleges. The list is in the NUMS advertisement for each session.

How is this different from the PM&DC MDCAT aggregate?

The weights are the same (50/40/10), because PM&DC sets them for all colleges. What differs is the test: NUMS colleges use the NUMS MDCAT, and NUMS sets its own pass marks. Use the MDCAT Aggregate Calculator for provincial admissions.
