COMSATS (CUI) grade points and mark bands

GradeGrade pointsMarks
A4.0085 and above
A−3.6680 to 84
B+3.3375 to 79
B3.0071 to 74
B−2.6668 to 70
C+2.3364 to 67
C2.0061 to 63
C−1.6658 to 60
D+1.3054 to 57
D1.0050 to 53
F0.00Below 50

Two CUI notifications matter here. The first, of 7 December 2020, adopted HEC's grading criteria, where each letter carries a range of grade points (B is 2.67 to 3.00). The second, of 18 November 2021, partially modified it and fixed one grade point per letter (B is 3.00). This calculator uses the second.

The GPA formula

GPA = Σ(grade points × credit hours) ÷ Σ(credit hours)

Worked example

CourseCredit hoursGradePointsCredit hours × points
Course 13A4.0012.00
Course 23B+3.339.99
Course 33B3.009.00
Course 41A−3.663.66

Total credit hours = 10, total points = 34.65, so GPA = 34.65 ÷ 10 = 3.47. Under the HEC table CUI adopted, 3.47 sits in the A− band (3.34 to 3.66), which the table reports as 80%.

How to use this calculator

  1. Add a row per course and enter its credit hours.
  2. Pick the letter grade from your result card.
  3. Read the GPA. For CGPA, enter every semester's courses together.
  4. Use the percentage only where a form asks for one, and prefer any percentage printed on your transcript.

Grade points and bands follow CUI Notification No. CUI-Reg/Notif-/21/4304 of 18 November 2021 and the HEC Policy Guidelines table CUI adopted, both read on 20 September 2026. Rules can change; confirm with the Controller of Examinations before relying on a figure.

Frequently asked questions

What are the COMSATS grade points?

From the CUI Academic Council notification of 18 November 2021: A 4.00, A- 3.66, B+ 3.33, B 3.00, B- 2.66, C+ 2.33, C 2.00, C- 1.66, D+ 1.30, D 1.00 and F 0.00. This replaced the grade-point ranges in HEC’s table that CUI adopted in December 2020.

What marks do I need for each COMSATS grade?

A is 85 and above, A- is 80 to 84, B+ is 75 to 79, B is 71 to 74, B- is 68 to 70, C+ is 64 to 67, C is 61 to 63, C- is 58 to 60, D+ is 54 to 57, D is 50 to 53, and F is below 50. The notification adds that marks are rounded to the nearest whole number, with .5 rounding up, so 70.5 becomes 71.

How is COMSATS GPA calculated?

Multiply each course’s grade points by its credit hours, add those products, and divide by the total credit hours. CGPA is the same calculation across every semester.

How do I convert a COMSATS CGPA to a percentage?

CUI adopted HEC’s table, and its note says a student with any CGPA is given the lowest percentage of the matching band; a CGPA of 3.00 is 71%. That is the figure this page shows. If your transcript prints a percentage, use that instead.

What CGPA do I need to stay in good standing at COMSATS?

Check your programme’s rules with the Registrar or Controller of Examinations. The notifications cited here set the grade points and bands only; they do not set probation rules, and we do not publish figures we have not read in a CUI document.
